Respiratory Physiotherapy
An area of Physiotherapy that intervenes in children, adults or elderly people with respiratory problems or at risk of developing them. Also known as Kinesiotherapy, Respiratory Physiotherapy includes a set of therapeutic methods and techniques that aim at the recovery of the respiratory function. The Physiotherapist acts in the release of secretions, which cause airway obstruction, ventilatory function alterations, dyspnea, among others, improving ventilation, promoting normal respiratory function and preventing possible complications.
Respiratory physiotherapy is applied at all ages, but particularly in pediatrics, because due to the particularities of their respiratory system, children and babies are more exposed to respiratory infections, as well as to the accumulation of secretions, which can have serious consequences for their respiratory function. From a continuous evaluation of the child’s respiratory condition, the Physiotherapist will plan and adjust the treatment within a set of non-invasive techniques in order to detach, mobilize and eliminate secretions to optimize the oxygen transport system. The application of Pediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy techniques is very effective, promoting a faster remission of respiratory and clinical symptoms, allowing in a short period of time the return of the child/baby to maximum functionality and quality of life.
