Urogynecological Rehabilitation
Did you know that physiotherapy acts on problems related to the pelvic floor?
Urogynecological Physiotherapy is the area of physiotherapy that is dedicated to the rehabilitation of pathologies associated with the pelvic floor, acting in the prevention and treatment of them.
The pelvic or perineal floor is formed by a set of muscles that are located at the base of the pelvis between the pubis and the coxis. O pavimento pélvico ou perineal é formado por um conjunto de músculos que se encontram na base da pélvis entre a púbis e a coxis.
When these are not functional, i.e., they do not perform their function correctly, they can compromise our well-being by causing problems such as urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, sexual dysfunctions, constipation, prolapses and pelvic pain.
The Urogynecological Physiotherapy aims to respond to these pathologies through a non-invasive treatment that consists of proprioceptive training to increase body awareness and perineal perception, teaching and training the contraction and muscle agility, and promoting the relaxation and strengthening of these muscles.
The physiotherapy treatment has shown excellent results being a huge contribution to the rehabilitation of these pathologies. The treatment is intended for any individual with pelvic floor related symptoms.
